Merging various files is one of the most frequent operations involved in video editing. Xilisoft Video Joiner can help you merge multiple video clips easily. The application has a very intuitive interface, and using it is as simple as selecting the source clips, arranging them on the timeline and choosing an output profile. This makes this tool ideal for people with little computer experience.
In order to add new clips, you can drag and drop them onto the program’s interface or use the standard browsing method. Unfortunately, you cannot add whole folders. Then, you can drag the clips to order them as desired. It is also allowed to add fade-in/fade-out transitions between the clips, but this is the only type of transition allowed, in contrast with other similar programs supporting a wider range of effects. The merged video can be previewed but the program does not seem to let you see what the transitions will look like.
Various output profiles are allowed. In order to make their selection easier, these presets are grouped into multimedia formats and devices. Thus, if you want the resulting video to be compatible with your mobile phone, you just need to choose one of the profiles supported by your gadget. Although the presets can be customized, they cannot be saved for later use. It is a shame that the tool does not let you merge multiple files with the same source format without re-encoding, which could save you a lot of time. more
